Plymouth Sound Divers is a volunteer dive club organised by its membership and a volunteer committee. All members of the Committee are made up of Branch Members anyone who is a member can volunteer to run for a position and help organise the club’s activities for the Year.
Volunteer for the Committee
Plymouth Sound Divers is a volunteer dive club organised by its membership and a volunteer committee. All members of the Committee are made up of Branch Members anyone who is a member can volunteer to run for a position and help organise the club’s activities for the Year. The committee was elected at the AGM in January.
Roles available
The chair’s main role is to ensure the smooth and effective running of the branch committee.
As the branch figurehead, they should champion the club’s activities for the members, promote the branch’s public image and encourage the development of the branch.
Equipment Officer
The Equipment Officer in the branch helps coordinate repairs, replacements and maintenance of the club’s equipment.
The equipment officer facilitates with the membership on how to maintain the Boats, clubhouse and safety equipment.
The secretary is effectively in charge of branch communications and the scheduling of branch meetings, committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
Communication is normally between the branch officers, branch members and BSAC HQ.
Treasurers manage the branch finances and track the monies in and out of the branch.
The treasurer plays a vital role in predicting income and expenditure, and budgeting for any major purchases – and for their upkeep and eventual replacement.
Membership Officer
The Membership Officer helps recruit and retain members of the branch to grow the club’s membership
This role helps keep the membership informed of the club’s activities and en-gauges new members of the club to get involved in the Clubs activities and plan events.
Welfare / Officer
The branch Welfare Officer is responsible for ensuring the branch complies with statute and BSAC guidance about discrimination and protection of those at risk.
The Diving Officer or DO is key to the safe and smooth running of the branch’s diving activities.
The DO authorise all diving activities for the Club and coordinates with Dive Managers to assist in controlling these activities. They liaise with the training Officer to upskill members.
Training Officer
The Training Officer – Coordinates training and supports instructors to deliver BSAC Training Programmes.
They have a good understanding of BSAC training systems and help guide branch members who want to up-skill and develop new diving skills.

If you are not interested in a formal role on the Clubs Committee. We always need another pair of hands, support and advice.
You can come and shadow a committee member and help out. If there is an area of the club you would like to learn more about and help change.
